Woronov was a sculpture major at Cornell, when she decided to quit school to do a film with Andy Warhol, "During that time my body was my art. That only art I did in New York was large black and white drawings which I later destroyed".

In the 70's she moved to Los Angeles and began to paint in vibranty colour. Her canvases range from ten inches to ten feet. Over the years LA became more and more conceptual in it's artistic focus.

Woronov remained faithful to her ideals, painting figuratively and even with narrative, "I do not believe painting should be logical. It should enter through the eyes, bypassing the brain, and go straight to the subconscious effecting ones emotions before you know what is happening. I also believe a painting must be beautiful because something esctaticaly pleasing you cannot help but be taken in by it. ".

Her smaller works which you see are full of moods which are totally recognisable through body language, whereas the backgrounds are flat blocks of colour that contrast with the emotional quality of the painting.
